When the Going Gets Tough, Take a Breather
In today’s chaotic world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed when faced with difficult decisions — especially in business, where it seems like every move can significantly impact your company’s future. Over time, I’ve realized that one of the best tools for managing these challenges is simply stepping back and taking a breather.
Several years ago, I adopted the 24-hour rule when it comes to making important decisions, whether for my business or in other areas of my life. Giving myself that time allows me to process the full scope of the situation, weigh the potential outcomes, and clear my mind. It’s amazing how much clarity comes to you when you’re not reacting on impulse and under extreme pressure.
In these trying times, there’s usually little to no room for error in major business decisions. But just remember, we don’t have to rush into anything. Taking a breather and allowing ourselves to pause could be the key to making decisions that are not just right, but smart.
